Day 2 Budapest, Hungary

Happy Easter! this morning we had an OMG buffet breakfast, some very weird stuff was avail but i could not go there, but i had pancakes, hashbrowns, ratatouille, orange juice, a chocolate croissant pastry thing and eggs, tomorrow i plan to smuggle more hashbrowns and pastries to the room. after eating we got a taxi to drop us off at the City Tour bus stop which was at some church. we spent a couple hours touring the city of Budapest and OMG the catholic church and the castle were fricking unreal. This whole city is so beautiful, interesting to look at...the food is good to great, and the people are soooooooooo nice. Since today is a holiday and they made Monday (tomorrow) a holiday also, most of the shit we had wanted to do was/ and will be closed, Since we leave at the butt crack of dawn on Tues to take the train to Vienna we will sadly not be able to enjoy those points of interest, We did find our way to the House of Terror and also to Starbucks in the West End shopping mall across town,

Sarah, i got you pictures and videeo as well as a mug from the Starbucks there! really cool, it is 2 stories with a spiral staircase. we walked around the mall window shopping and as bizarre as this sounds, there were probably 200 people in there just walking around doing the same, not one store was open but yet there they were lounging around, walking...weird.

AND while we were shopping, a young man from Hungary approached Jules and I making small talk but clearly he only saw Julie ahahha after a short converstation, he left and we continued on our wayhis opening line to julie was "you made such an impression on me when u held the door open for me i had to talk to you" how cute is that? ,,,oops, there he is again with his friends and here he comes for more conversation. This guy was soooooooo sweet and for those of u who know me, i rarely like anyone so this should tell u what a nice guy he was. His friends were sitting across the mall from where we were standing watching their friend make nice with the hot blonde from America. What an ambassador of good will she is.

while we were walking down the street again, we saw a crowd of men taking photos of something,,,as we got closer we noticed one of their friends was wearing a bright pink bunny suit and since this trip is all about thephotos, i insisted julie have her picture with him....she complied.

we had some incredible desserts- chocolate mousse something for me and vanilla creme w/ flaky pastry for jules, OMG it was so finom (fee-nohm meaning delicious). i forgot to mention our tour guide spoke 7 different languages during the tour for all the tourists in our group it was craziness.

We took a taxi back to the hotel and had dinner there. Julie ate a whole lamb with potatoes and green beans and had some brownish looking wine that she said was nasty, i had ham and bread, since tomorrow is our last full day, we will partake in a traditional hungarian meal either at lunch or dinner.

there are a bajillion dogs here and some weird looking ones that we do not have in the USA and since the owners often dont speak english and i can only say hello, goodbye, delicious, and toilet i have not been able to find out the species of dogs. they are so cute, Budapest has become somewhat of a petting zoo for us.

There are several modes of transport here...train, bus, tour bus, segways, rickshaws, bicycles. and speaking of bikes, over here they have (on the sidewalk which is very wide) a lane for pedestrians and then some metal poles and on the other side of the poles are 2 lanes for bicyles- they do not ride in the street.

i am getting really really tired, going to bed soon. Sue, we have some "special" video footage just for YOU...ahahahahah

oh this morning we were wasting time in the room before breakfast or whatever and hear someone trying to get in our room...like they could not get their key to work. so julie sneaks over to the door and whips the door open and there before her was a dark haired female from who knows where that "no speaky english" that said this was her room- NOT! so julie and i were pleased to know we were not the only idiots abroad. The others probably just keep their mouth shut and let people wonder if they are doofs, where jules and i leave no doubt. We proudly fly our freak flags.

2 days into our 11 day trip and she has not body checked me with her camera, sort of like those workers comp posters where u tick off the days without an industrial accident.

oh, the hotel beds are amazing, they are so comfortable and the "air conditioner" is so loud it drowns out the birds that never shut the F*** up and the chatter from the restaurant below ahahha the bottles of still water are provided each day in our room, FREE how cool is that. if i drank water that would be even better. oh, for eating out here, this is interesting, you are seated at your table and provided a menu and you order, same shit different day, but then you are served and then left alone...even after you finish your meal and sit there and try to telepathically let the serve staff know u are finished, they just smile at you, so it is upon YOU to let them know u have finished and if u do not ask for the check, they will let u sit there for hours without paying. i think they must feel it is rude to deliver the check without u asking for it, sort of like it might make u feel that u need to leave soon thereafter. the tip suggested is 10% if u received good service. i bet foreigners who come to the USA must feel like they must dine and dash with the clingy servers we have.

cant wait for breakfast, gonna wear my jacket with big ass pockets to stash food! OMG cant wait! were going to go on nighttime walk again tonight but screw that!

Szia (see ya) Becks
