um, this is important to anyone traveling abroad...learn from our mistake. i was trying to charge the large battery from my video camera using the appropriate adaptor plug and the electrical currency adaptor. no problem so far, but my battery is so large since it is an extended life one so it hangs down from the weight making it lose the connection in the wall socket. so we prop up some magazines underneath the converter to better support all this equipment and lo and behold, we have liftoff. Jules knocked off almost immediately and i stayed up until midnight waiting for the bar patrons below outside to finish singing drunken Hungarian songs- sounded like they were having a great time. anyway, i notice that the light has not gone off on my battery yet so i go to check it- WTH it is sooooooooooooooooooooo hot....WTF is causing that? OMG...we almost started a fire and since i do not see any smoke detectors this might not have had a happy ending. the converter has air vents on the bottom for ventilation and when we completely closed those off with magazines and julie's suitcase, there was no way for the heat to escape.
the moral of this story is, dont take extended life batteries! take the small ones that dont have so much weight they lose connection and u become tempted to do something stupid.
well, still trying to get julie out of bed (i realize she only got 13 hours of sleep), but the chow hall and my choc pastries and hashbrowns might be gone soon. she said i can go without her but i need her as a distraction to complete my mission.
if u guys could taste this food, u would totally understand! i am so glad they dont have these at home otherwise i would also have to carry butter to get my fat and continually fatter ass thru the door.
woohoo, i hear the shower, julie is on her way....we will chat later, hoping that cheesy tourist stores are open today gotta find my wonderful son in law some Hungarian licorice, Lorye a spoon etc.
