well, it continued to snow over night and it has been the coldest and most snow in 20 years? has it been on the news? they have closed over 400 schools and the airports, trains, buses, all stopped. we had breakfast again at the italian restaurant and the grumpy old lady was there....made her stand still for a photo...she not happy cuz her husband made her do it, but i dont care...need the photo as a supporting document for the blog.
we went thru Hyde park and all the people were making snow men and snow women ( yes, some of the snow people had obvious enhancements, this is after all- europe), lots of snow balls, julie and i made snow angels....it was my first...i warned her about letting her head hit the ground but she never listens to me so she knocked her head on a rock, hurt her jaw...told her if she needed to go to the hospital, i would continue on without her...she made a miraculous recovery.
took taxi to the shopping district. Harrods is the largest and Sefridges is the 2nd. so we went there...it was like 5 floors and on one floor with the lingerie you can purchase glass dildos, golden plated handcuffs, and one-size fits all hand whips! they even have food available within feet of clothing in the stores on each floor.
the food court ( i mean food hall) has really gross looking food. had lots of animal body parts....nasty - just can't go there right now..... oh, they had that sushi place where you sit and the food travels on a track around the restaurant and you take off the track what you want to eat. julie was pretending to be sick and wanted mashed potatoes so we did not eat there. it is the same place on the rick steve's dvd of london.
we then went back to westminster abbey (we tried yesterday but arrived after they had closed at 3pm) so we get there at 2pm and they say they are closed because of the snow (employees did not show up to work all across london) so while jules was farting around with her camera, i went around the back and was talking to a guard and some dude who said i could not go in but could stand where i was and peep in....forget that crap...i pulled the "i traveled all across the world to see this and we were unable to get in yesterday, and now we can't today cuz you are closing early, and we are leaving tomorrow and it will be years before i can return...blah blah blah...maybe i had a tear roll down my check....don't remember...but i pouted and they let me and julie in....cool...we had to pretend we were with the contractor there to do work at the facility....it was really nice. we had planned on taking a train today to Kent to see the Leeds castle but the trains were shut down. so this will hold me over. very nice. while we were leaving we had to pass the first guy who told us to hit the road, so we changed our appearance, put our heads down and boogied out the door without getting caught....cool.
after this julie wanted to cross the westminster bridge during the snow....oh, and did i mention she only wants to walk in inclement weather if it is against us, smacking us in the face and eyes. OMG so we walked across it and then back again. mostly we piddled around today. snow is crazy here...whole town like shuts down cuz they are freaking out...babies.
so we decided to do laundry and those machines are crazy weird. took forever to figure out where to put the soap, another eternity to find where to put the 2 pound coin....holy moly....so i put soap in my machine where julie did on hers...so either both our clothes would be ruined or cleaned. so, her machine starts right up....mine however, makes one turn then nothing for 2minutes, then 1 turn then nothing for 2 minutes...this goes on for like 28 minutes...but julie's machine is doing much better. so, the room we are the lights goes completely out every 4-5 minutes...julie is light-monitor and switches it back on for the entire hour we are there. the spin cycle shook the bench we were sitting on like we were riding a bull. so my machine finishes before hers (even though hers started before mine...neener neener julie!) and as i am pulling out my wet clothing, i see i have washed my cell phone wall charger....dadgumit AND a plastic bag with underwear in it...WTH? pretty embarrassing! don't know yet if the charger still works. we packed our bags and can barely fit it all in the suitcases...gonna have to find a post office and mail a ton of stuff back to the states if/when we ever get to Croatia.
well, i am so wiped out...will rag on julie tomorrow.....
Sounds like Becky was right at home in that Department store. Grown up toys, check. Nasty food, check! All that was missing was the Sick and Twisted cartoons playing on the TV!
