Julie Feb. 2

Yesterday ended with incredible snowfall, and this morning we woke up to an absolute winter wonderland....we walked to breakfast and then walked around a snow-covered Hyde Park....I've never seen anything like it and may never will again...it was a great experience. We took a TON of pictures and made snow angels.

Becky got whiny about having cold hands, so we went to some HUGE department store....not Harrod's the next biggest one. I cannot believe all that is crammed into one store. We got some goodies, ate lunch when I got crabby & needed a mashed potato fix, then went outside in the pouring snow to catch a cab back to hotel to drop off our packages. While we were trying to hail a cab, Becky got splashed by gutter snow sludge by another taxi driving by, so when we finally got our cab, he had to wait while Becky changed her muddy wet jeans...haha!

We then had the cab drop us off at Westminster Abby, since today was suppose to be our train trip to York but the whole city has come to standstill (schools closed, etc.) from the snow, the train was not operating, so we figured the inside of the Abby would give Becky her castle fix. Unfortunately, they had just closed, but like Becky would take no for an answer....she went around back and gave the guards puppy dog eyes and told her she had flown all the way from CA to see this ONE THING and this was her last chance....she ended up getting her own personal escort to take her through! Then we changed our hats to avoid getting recognized by the dick guard at the front who was rude about informing us they were closed...haha sucker! ;)

Then we had pizza at our favorite neighborhood pizza place, then we went back to the hotel to organize our things and do laundry. Whatever stupid shit I did that Becky is writing about cannot possibly top what she did here....she managed to lose 2 pounds in the washer, and when she was pulling her clothes out of the washer to put in the dryer, guess what she found? Her cell phone AC charger! I'm not so sure it will work, but it was pretty funny. Then we met a very nice girl, Amanda, who was also doing laundry. We chatted a bit and she gave us the lowdown on to go in Paris.

We're hoping to find a post office tomorrow morning to mail home some of the souvenirs we've bought....I sent out a stack of postcards today, and will send more (hopefully) tomorrow....you'll probably see me before them. Wish us luck getting our flight out tomorrow! Hopefully our next post will be from Croatia.
